July 26th & 27th, 2024 Mia and her partner Wesley presented Opposites Attract, a passion project double feature showing Scab for Hire written by Wesley Tilford and me & Steve created and conceived by Mia. me & Steve was a musical theatre revue of the works of Stephen Sondheim, Mia’s all-time favorite, most beloved and adored composer. click below to watch her performance of Send in the Clowns from Sondheim’s A Little Night Music.

in the spring of 2024, Mia worked again with the amazing team at Lakeville North High School now serving as choreographer and movement director for Kate Hamil’s adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. click below for a smattering of theatrical regency social dancing and heartwarmingly wacky movement.

in January 0f 2024, Mia conceived, produced, hosted, & performed another one-woman musical theatre cabaret at Phoenix Theater in Uptown Minneapolis. hot g!rl sh!t was a two-night event highlighting sensuality, female empowerment, & outspoken womanhood in musical theatre. enjoy a sampling of the pieces performed for this event at the link below.

in July of 2023, Mia independently produced, performed, & meticulously planned a one-woman, one-night-only musical theatre cabaret entitled sad songs only at Phoenix Theater in Uptown Minneapolis. click below for a sampling of the pieces performed for this event.

In the fall of 2022, Mia choreographed The SpongeBob Musical at Lakeville North High School. This sampling of choreography features the talented students of LNHS Drama under the direction of Hannah Steblay and music direction of Jamye Casperson.

A collaboration with videographer Maria Claire Barr, Mia created haunt (brookridge drive) in late 2021. Seeking to explore loss, displacement, and grief, this piece features choreography and dancing by Mia (inspired by the song “Haunted House” by Holly Humberstone) and camera work, editing, and lighting by Maria.

As a final project for a dance composition course, Mia conceived and choreographed this trio relaying the narrative of a family being torn apart by infidelity, secrecy, and divorce. Autobiographical in nature and choreographed socially-distanced, dissolve was performed by Kelly Solberg, Nick Wright, and Emily Bolles at UMD in May of 2021 and features choreography by Mia and the song “No Children” by The Mountain Goats.

Mia was both a choreographer and a performer in UMD Theatre’s first virtual dance concert, DanceWorks 2020. sunflower is a solo performance of her choreography and dancing and includes music by City and Colour, a featured print by visual artist Nicole Krentz, and videography, lighting, and editing by Maria Claire Barr.

Also produced through DanceWorks 2020, green slime is a murder mystery narrative with characters from the Nickelodeon Universe. This piece was conceived, directed, filmed, and edited by Naomi Leedahl, and Naomi and Mia choreographed this piece in collaboration. Mia was also a featured performer.

Produced by Stage 2 Theatre Company under the co-direction of Katie Keller and Della Christ, Bucket List: A Cabaret (2019) was a platform for actors to explore pieces they’d always dreamt of showcasing. Mia was a company member and a featured soloist, performing “Me and the Sky” from Come from Away by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, accompanied by Sarah Marie Phillips.
